day in the life
Family life is a busy life. So many balls to keep in the air. And it all starts first thing in the morning when everybody wakes up. Getting dressed, washing hands, brushing teeth, having breakfast, and making sure everyone gets to school and work on time. After school, the kids are busy playing, followed by a quick dinner because one has football practice, the other has judo, and then there are swimming lessons as well. Busy, busy, busy! What is such a shame about this hectic family life, is how quickly you forget what those little moments together were truly like. Those moments when you were genuinely connected with each other. Playing a game together, reading a book, crafting, or baking cookies. Going to the playground together, on the swings, down the slide. Or the moments around the dinner table—from the cozy chats about how everyone's day was, to those lovely, stubborn toddler tantrums about not wanting to eat. Those frustrating moments where you now think: Help, when will this end?! Those are the exact moments where you will think in ten years: Help! When will they come back?! You fly through the days and easily forget to pause and appreciate these special times.
That is exactly why booking a Day in the Life shoot is so incredibly valuable! I will join you for a morning, an afternoon, or a whole day in your home to capture those precious moments you will wish you could relive later on! Think of the cozy chats during dinner, doing a fun activity together like baking cookies or gingerbread, putting up the Christmas tree, reading a bedtime story, helping out in the garden, or a trip to the petting zoo! Anything and everything that reminds you of this beautiful time while the children are still so young.
No outfit stress!!
During a Day in the Life shoot, I follow your family for a morning or afternoon. The beautiful thing about this shoot is that you don't have to worry about what to wear beforehand! It doesn't matter at all whether all the colors match each other or the surroundings. No, just wear whatever you would wear on a completely normal day. Dress the children in their comfortable play clothes, their overalls, or rompers. Or maybe they prefer wearing their favorite princess dress or Spiderman suit!

Another wonderful benefit is that you don’t have to pose at all during a Day in the Life shoot. You can simply do your own thing! This is exactly what creates those 'real' pictures, those 'real' moments. Precisely how it actually was, and exactly who you are!
In fact, nothing has to be perfect. An 'imperfect' day is actually a perfect day. So yes, that includes the minor bickering, the kids fighting, and the major meltdowns because a sandwich was cut into six pieces instead of four. Only for them to be your little ray of sunshine again two seconds later. Your silly dance moves, family rituals, funny face competitions during dinner, and so on.
This is what you will look back on later with a huge smile: 'yes, that is exactly how it was at our house.'

How it works
During a Day in the Life shoot, I will spend a morning or afternoon with your family. Before the shoot, we will catch up to get to know each other a little bit. This will be either over the phone or via a video call. During this chat, we will run through all the details, and I can get a feel for your family!
On the day itself, I will capture your family exactly as you are. This is done completely in a documentary style. No posing, nothing staged. I will simply join you in your home and experience a day in your life with you! The kids playing happily, or maybe you will go and bake some cookies together! Do you love playing board games? Splashing around with water in the garden? Or do you often visit the petting zoo or the little playground in your neighborhood? Anything is possible!
Preferably, I will arrive first thing in the morning and stay through lunch, or I will join you in the afternoon and capture dinner and the bedtime routine. Getting into the bath together, brushing teeth, putting on pajamas, and reading a bedtime story. It is so incredibly valuable!
After our day together, I head home with full SD cards and start selecting and editing all the beautiful moments. This is done with the utmost care, so it definitely takes some time! The shoot also includes a small photo album, in which I place the most beautiful, fun, loving, and precious moments, told as a little story through photos. This way, you can look back on it regularly, and the kids definitely will too! Even now, I still love looking at my own photo albums from when I was young.
